This weeks Home Page photo is the Mullet Boat L45 Vamoose.
The mighty Vamoose recently came 2nd in the 87th Lipton Cup race and can be seen around the Auckland Harbour a lot. The current owner, Lance, spent a lot of time resoring this boat to it's current flash condidtion. What's more Lance and his team have found out how to make her sail fast as well. Go the lads.
Vamoose was build in 1972 (approx.) by Brain Vaudrey and is a L Class Mullet boat.
L Class Mullet Boats are 22ft long, has 22ft Spinaker poles, 1000kg of internal ballest and a un-ballested centreboard. L Class boats can and have capsized. Usually sailed by 6 big blokes as they are somewhat old school when it comes to smooth running handling systems. The Mullet Boat fleet does seem to drink more than it's fair share often.
